Antonelli could clinch first world title in Austin

24 Oct, 10:35

Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli could secure his first Formula 1 World Championship at the United States Grand Prix in Austin this weekend. The 20-year-old Italian leads the Drivers' Championship with 340 points, ahead of teammate George Russell (238) and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton (229). Antonelli has won eight races this season and could become the youngest Formula 1 world champion in history. To secure the title this weekend, he would need to win Sunday's race, with Russell finishing ninth or lower and Hamilton fifth or lower. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc was fastest in Friday's second practice session, followed by Antonelli and Max Verstappen. Qualifying takes place on Saturday, October 24, with the Grand Prix scheduled for Sunday, October 25, at 21:00 German time.
