911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche: Limited Series Marks Designer's 90th Birthday
Porsche has introduced a 90-car series marking the 90th birthday of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the designer who created the original 911.
Developed by Sonderwunsch — Porsche's bespoke division — in collaboration with Mark Porsche, F. A. Porsche's youngest son, the car is based on a G-Series 911 that F. A. Porsche drove in the 1980s. The exterior paint, interior fabrics and design details are drawn from that car and his personal effects.
Mark Porsche has purchased one example. The remaining 89 are available worldwide.
The Designer's Approach
F. A. Porsche worked under a clear design principle: "When you consider the function of an object, the form usually emerges by itself."
Born in 1935, he joined Porsche's modelling department in 1957. By 1961, the department was spun off under his control as 'Studio F. A. Porsche.' The team created the 901/911, the 804 Formula One car, and the 904 Carrera GTS.
In 1972, after the Porsche family left the operational business, F. A. and his brother Hans-Peter founded Porsche Design in Stuttgart. Two years later, he moved the studio to Zell am See.
The studio produced functional design objects. The Chronograph I wristwatch in 1972 became the world's first black wristwatch. The P'8478 sunglasses with interchangeable lenses followed. The studio also designed industrial products and consumer goods for international clients.
F. A. Porsche died in 2012. Studio F. A. Porsche continues operating in Zell am See, following his functional design philosophy.
Translating Personal Details Into Design
Sonderwunsch used elements from F. A. Porsche's own 911 and personal items. Each design choice traces to a specific source.
The exterior paint, F. A. Greenmetallic, is based on the Oakgreenmetallic of his G-Series 911. The Paint to Sample Plus team created the shade with the Porsche family. From 2026, an exclusive label appears on the A-pillar of all Paint to Sample cars. This anniversary model is the first to carry it.
Sport Classic wheels in satin-gloss black reference classic Fuchs rims. They include central locking and the 1963 crest on wheel hub covers. A gold-plated badge with the '90 F. A. Porsche' logo sits on the boot lid grille.
Inside, seat centre panels use F. A. Grid-Weave fabric. The five-colour pattern (black, green, truffle brown, cream, bordeaux red) comes from jackets F. A. Porsche wore in his office.
Mark Porsche explained: "My father's favourite jackets were patterned like this. Like his pencil, pipe and ashtray, these jackets felt like part of my childhood and inextricably linked to his office at home."
The cabin uses Truffle Brown Club Leather with Chalk Beige stitching. The Grid-Weave fabric appears in the glove box, briefcase and luggage compartment mat. The Sport Chrono watch replicates the original Chronograph I made for F. A. Porsche.
The walnut plywood gear knob carries a plaque with F. A. Porsche's signature. Another gold-plated plaque on the dashboard shows the signature, the original 911 silhouette, and 'One of 90.' The centre console storage compartment is embossed with the boot lid badge design.
The Base Car
The car uses the GT3 with Touring Package — the version with an extendable rear spoiler instead of a fixed wing. The 4.0-litre flat-six engine produces 375 kW (510 PS) and 450 Nm of torque.
Chronograph, Weekender Bag and Junior Sled
Each car includes an exclusive Porsche Design Chronograph 1 with F. A. Porsche's initials at 3 o'clock, Super-LumiNova patina effect, and a rotor matching the car's wheels. The titanium case features the limited-edition number and signature. A weekender bag in Truffle Brown leather with Grid-Weave fabric lining is included. The Porsche Junior sled returns in carbon fibre with Kevlar core, finished in F. A. Greenmetallic and limited to 90 units with Grid-Weave seat cushion.
Production and Orders
90 cars will be built — one for each year of F. A. Porsche's life. Mark Porsche has one. 89 are available to customers worldwide.
Orders open in April 2026. Production starts in the second half of 2026, after buyers complete final configurations through Sonderwunsch. Buyers participate in an experience to further personalise their car.
The series connects the designer's personal vehicle and functional design philosophy to the modern GT3 platform using verified personal elements.
